Finite Element Analysis dan Computational Fluid Dynamic
Untuk menyelesaikan masalah engineering sehari-hari, terkadang proses trial and error menjadi pilihan yang sangat beresiko untuk project yang besar, sedangkan pengujian fisik menjadi pilihan yang tidak feasible karena biaya dan waktunya yang relatif besar. Salah satu metode yang paling umum digunakan untuk menggantikanya adalah dengan software simulasi.
Dalam dunia engineering, kita mengenal beberapa software yang merupakan bagian dari Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) seperti misalkan untuk simulasi fluida dan perpindahan kalor yaitu Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), serta untuk analisis struktur adalah Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Penggunaan software-software ini sangatlah luas, baik untuk riset akademis maupun penggunaan sehari-hari di berbagai industri, misalkan untuk optimasi desain, verifikasi desain, rekonstruksi kegagalan sistem, memahami fenomena fisis yang terjadi, dan masih banyak lagi.
